Khattabi added that holding this meeting before the launch of the Global Media and Information Literacy Week on the 24th of this month in Jordan gives a clear indication of the Arab will to confront the challenges related to educational media in light of the media and digital transformations in today’s world, in which we seek to engage effectively, credibly and ambitiously.
He stressed that the multiplicity and diversity of national experiences will constitute a source of enrichment for the strategic document that will be prepared according to a harmonious, participatory Arab vision that enshrines the need to include educational media in the Arab educational curriculum, especially in specialized media institutes, and its effective role in promoting digital citizenship and consolidating the right to communication, and qualifying youth for legal, safe and responsible communication practices based on deepening critical capabilities to deal with the content of media discourses in light of the flow of fake news, especially in circumstances of crises, disasters and conflicts, and on developing awareness among youth of the dangers of violence, extremism and terrorism.
